"Compromised," a romantic suspense novel

"Compromised" is my newest romantic suspense novel. Released in February in both paperback and e-book, it's about Cally Hunt who wants to be a network news anchor and when she accidentally overhears the sale of government secrets, she thinks she has her big break. However, she didn't count on her life being in danger and federal agents coming to protect her.

For CIA officer, Ethan Young, what was supposed to be a routine assignment of protecting a journalist, turns out to be the most challenging of his career when he discovers the reporter is his former fiancée.

Things get complicated when personal feelings and their past relationship interferes with Ethan's responsibility of protecting Cally, especially when she discovers who he really works for.

You can purchase "Compromised" for your Kindle or in paperback at amazon.com.

I will also be signing copies of "Compromised" at the Second Annual Author Fair on March 16 at That Book Place, 337 Clifty Drive, Madison, Indiana.

Thanks,
Carol

Swept Away Blog Hop

Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to the Swept Away Blog Hop. Several bloggers are participating starting today through February 17, 2013. Many are giving away some great prizes.

Haven't we all at one time or another wanted to be swept off our feet by a Prince Charming? I never thought it would happen to be, but it did and I ended up marrying my Prince Charming. We're still together today after almost thirty years of marriage.

I think one of the most romantic things he ever did was a surprise on Valentine's Day when we were dating. He was a Deputy Sheriff working the midnight to 8 am shift and he told me he was going to bring his gift sometime in the middle of the night and there was no way I was going to catch him. Oh, and he said that the neighbors would love seeing it the next morning. I figured he was going to put something on the hood of my car, so I kept the front curtains open and lights off. I was determined to catch him and not be embarrassed in front of my neighbors. You know what, I was not able catch him, but I did get the gift before the neighbors saw it. Out of a huge piece of plywood, he had cut out a heart, painted it bright red, nailed it to a stake, and planted it in my front yard. I don't know how he got it there without me seeing him. I must have missed him by only a few minutes. It's been a while since he's done anything like that, but that's okay. He's my Valentine every day now.

Heartbreakers Blog Hop

Welcome to the Heartbreakers Blog Hop.Almost 300 authors, reviewers, and bloggers are participating. The complete list can be found at the end of the post. Many, including myself, are having giveaways, so make sure you check them out for your chance to win some great prizes.

Heartbreakers, we've all had them. Whether it's a disappointing lover or a friendship broken apart, we don't like them.
Even in romance novels, the characters usually suffer a heartbreak before they can have the happily-ever-after ending. It's no different in my current book, "A Kitchen Affair," where Jenny becomes heartbroken when she finds out that Derek slept with another woman. The table also turns when he sees her with another man at an art show.
Whether you use it for a comfort food or as a dessert to share with your partner, this chocolate dish works wonders.
Turtle Cake

1 box brownie mix
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup pecans, chopped
10 unwrapped caramel candies

Wad up some aluminum foil and form into a ring. Place it in the bottom of 5-quart crock pot. Pour 4 cups of hot water into the crock and turn to high heat.

In a bowl, combine brownie mix, water, oil and egg. Beat until blended well. Add chocolate chips and nuts. Stir.

Butter the inside of a 2 1/2 quart souffle dish that will fit inside of crock. Dust the bottom and sides of the dish with sugar. Pour the brownie mixture into the dish. Partially push caramels into the batter, leaving at least 1/4 of it above the batter. Completely wrap the dish with aluminum foil and tie with a string to make a handle to lift it with. Place on top of aluminum foil ring in bottom of cooker. Place lid on and cook on high for 4 1/2 hours. When done, remove dish, string, and foil and let cool for about 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream or warmed chocolate sauce.

Welcome Author Kenzie Michaels

I'd like to welcome my friend, author Kenzie Michaels who is guest hosting my blog today. Kenzie has a new book coming, Class Reunion out this week and I can't say enough about how much I love this cover. I've read Kenzie's other book, All She Ever Wanted and I'm sure her new book will be just as good. I can't wait to read it.

Natalie Collier stared at the invitation in her hand.
“Anderson HS Class of 1984 25th Year Reunion
          Madison Co. Country Club
         August 28-30, 2009
         RSVP Brian Vellinger 765-241-0532
                    Or
        Sandy Kimmel (Krantz) 765-242-3375
        Cost:  $25 Single, $40 Couple”

A hand-written note at the bottom read, “Hi Natalie!  We missed you at the 10th; won’t you please try to make it?  I’d love to hear about your life in Idaho.  Email me at sandyk@yahoo.com.”  Sandy (Krantz) Kimmel

A pang went through her as she sat down.  So Sandy had married Tom Kimmel.  And Brian….she hadn’t seen him since their graduation from Purdue in 1988.  She hadn’t kept in touch with anyone from her high school class, though her parents would pass along news from time to time.  I wonder if it’s time to renew my friendship with Lisa and Michelle?  Twenty-one years ago….and we just drifted apart.

She picked up the phone and punched in Sandy’s number.

An hour later, she danced around her tiny apartment.  I don’t remember talking to Sandy all that much, but now we can’t seem to stop!  I’ll wangle the time off somehow.  Who knows, maybe one of the guys I had a crush on will be single also, and we’ll hook up?

Get real.  Like that’ll ever happen.

________________
What about you?  When you attended your high school reunion, were you single?  Newly married?  In a committed relationship?  I attended my 10th only because I hadn’t seen my BFF in two years and wanted to meet his new girlfriend.  I looked forward to the 20th, since I had my first published book, and everyone wanted to take their picture with me.  And at the 25th, well, let’s just say alcohol loosened a few tongues and ideas for my next book were being offered.

All She Ever Wanted had been released a few months before, and a reader emailed me wanting to know ‘Banker-dude’s story’.  So I took the idea of one of the more ‘fleshed out’ plot line, changed the characters names, and Class Reunion was born.  I sincerely hope I’ve disguised enough details thrown at me; otherwise at the 30th reunion, people may refuse to talk to me!

Class Reunion releases Feb 6th at Freya’s Bower and can be pre-ordered here.

Thanks for hosting me today Carol!
