A Day of Potpourri

 

You'd think as a writer, I could come up with many topics to write about on my blog. Alas, that would be a big NO. I have a terrible time trying to come up with something to write about. Today, I realized it has been months since I posted on here, so let me see what I can come up with.

 

I get really bored staying home all the time alone. With places opening back up, I have my eye on a couple coffee shops that I might go to do some writing. I especially want to try a Tea Shop that opened not long ago in my town. I will definitely keep you updated on how that goes.

 

 Last month, I finished the third book in my Nathan Perry Mystery Series, Witch Hunt. My publisher is still working on getting the edits to me, but we're hoping it will be available by Christmas. Here's a little teaser - Someone is killing the witches in Mystic, and Detective Nathan Perry is trying to find out who it is.

 I've already started working on book four in the series. The working title is Murder in Mystic Hollow. It will be a modern day retelling of Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow, one of my favorite stories.

 

 While working on that, I occasionally work on a book I started a few years ago about a female private investigator working in Louisville, Kentucky. I have no title for it as yet, but it's a good distraction to work on when I get stuck on my other book. Not to mention how much I love researching about art thefts.

 

 

Speaking of research, I am a television-a-holic. I spent way too much time watching TV, but I call it research. My favorite shows are usually police shows, and since my private investigator work-in-progress book centers around an art theft, I have been watching documentaries on Netflix about art theft. 

I've also been doing some online research about art thefts. When you see those little cartoons about a writer's online search history, They're all true. I think about that every time, I google something for my book.

 That's about all I've got for today. I'll post on my Facebook page and on Twitter whenever I update again, or just check back whenever you feel like it.

Bad start to the morning

 

According to my Fitbit, I slept 6 1/2 hours last night. Not as much as I usually sleep, but not real bad either. Apparently, I needed more. At 7:30 a.m., I stumbled into the kitchen and started my K-cup brewer for my morning coffee. While the coffee brewed, I went into the living room and sat on the couch watching a little television. 

 

Forty-five minutes later, I remember my coffee. I'm not a fan of lukewarm coffee. Sure, I could have made iced coffee from it, but I wasn't the mood for that. Instead, I zapped it in the microwave. As much as I love coffee, reheated coffee in the microwave just doesn't do it for me.

 

Next, was breakfast. I make my own version of McDonald's Bacon, Egg, and Cheese biscuit, except I use an English muffin. I promptly scorched my scrambled egg, but ate it anyway. 

 

I have a meeting on Zoom later this morning. I'll need more coffee to make it though that, and just hope I don't forget it this time. Fingers crossed.

2021 Appearances

UPDATE: Due to the recent surge in Covid cases, some of the events I had planned to attend this year have been canceled. 

As the country starts to open back up, I will again be attending some conferences and conventions. You can imagine how much I am looking forward to seeing people in person again. Here are my scheduled appearance, so far, for 2021.

Award Winning, Homecoming to Murder

The Coin Collector release

 When I started writing in 2000, I never thought I had ten books in me, but here I am. The Coin Collector is the tenth book I've released! What a milestone, and one I am very proud of.

The Coin Collector is the second book in the Nathan Perry Mystery Series. When a coin convention comes to Mystic, Massachusetts, the town has another murder on its hands.

Returning from a month-long paternity leave, Detective Nathan Perry plunges into an investigation of the mysterious death of coin collector Chuck Blanton after determining he was killed over a rare coin.

His task becomes more complicated when a nationally known journalist, Robin Fisher, wants the same answers as him. As the leads and suspects mount, and finding no one that has actually seen the coin, Nathan is not sure whether she will be a help or a hindrance.

Time begins running short, but Nathan is determined to entangle the mystery surrounding the rare coin in order to bring justice to the coin collector’s killer.

While The Coin Collector can be read as a stand-alone book, it's much better if you also read the first book in the series, Homecoming to Murder.

Currently, I'm working on book three, Witch Hunt. With the success of the series, I hope to write many more Nathan Perry Mysteries.
